Are you a skilled project professional with a passion for student success? Macquarie University is seeking a Project Manager (Progression Management) to lead an exciting, high-impact initiative that will reshape how the University understands and supports student progression. This is a unique opportunity to drive the co-design and implementation of a university-wide progression management framework, integrating data, stakeholder collaboration, and evidence-based interventions to make a real difference in students' lives.

Reporting to our Executive Director, Student Shared Services, you will be at the centre of a cross-functional effort spanning faculties, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Business Intelligence & Reporting, and Student Shared Services. You'll bring together diverse voices through co-design, translate complex data into actionable strategy, and ensure the project delivers measurable, lasting outcomes.

About the Role

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and monitoring of all project activities using agreed methodologies to ensure delivery against milestones, budget, and compliance requirements.

  • Establish governance structures, define project scope and success criteria, and manage risks, dependencies, and quality standards.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with faculties, DVCA, BIR, Student Shared Services, and other key stakeholders, aligning responsibilities and ways of working to support adoption.

  • Facilitate co-design workshops and consultations to inform the development of the progression management framework and operating models.

  • Deliver clear and timely communications to support stakeholder engagement, including establishing feedback loops to monitor and improve adoption plans.

  • Partner with the Data Analyst to integrate data strategy, segmentation modelling, and A/B testing into project deliverables.

  • Contribute to a data and insights strategy with agreed progression definitions and measurable criteria for university-wide adoption.

  • Support the design and documentation of end-to-end nurture streams and targeted intervention strategies for each student segment.

  • Develop a validated process for A/B testing and randomised controlled trials of nurture streams to measure intervention effectiveness.

About You (Selection Criteria)

You are a collaborative, outcomes-focused project professional who thrives in complex stakeholder environments. You bring a strong understanding of the higher education landscape and are energised by the opportunity to use data-driven insights to improve student outcomes. You communicate with clarity, facilitate with confidence, and lead with purpose.

  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in higher education, social policy, analytics, or a related field.
